Francesco Vitali, 1999 - Eine neue Trirachys-Art von den Philippinen (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Cerambycinae) - Mitteilungen der Münchner entomologischen Gesellschaft, 89: 71-73

Trirachys acanthophorus nov. sp. is a Cerambycini-species original from Panay (Philippines).

The new species belongs to the Trirachys-group characterised by antennal joints 3-10 inner spinose.

It differs from T. orientalis Hope, 1841 (Southeastern Asia) and from T. atkinsoni Gardner, 1939 (India) in its mutic prothorax.

It differs from T. inexpectatus Holzschuh, 1982 (India) in the coarsely thickened (rather than smooth) scape, the parallel-sided (rather than posteriorly enlarged) elytra, the strongly (rather than feebly) toothed elytral apex; the antennae longer (rather than shorter) than body.

Holotype deposed in the ZSM (Zoologische Staatssammlung, Münich, Germany).

(in German with English summary).
